Course Description
Euclidean space, linear systems, Gaussian elimination, determinants, inverses, vector spaces, linear transformations, quadratic forms, least squares and linear programming, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, diagonalization.
Prerequisites
‘C’ or better in MATH 1260 OR MATH 1320 OR MATH 1321 OR MATH 2210 OR MATH 2310 OR ‘B’ or better in MATH 1220 OR AP Calculus BC score of 5

Textbook
Linear Algebra and its Applications, 6th. ed. by Lay, Lay, and McDonald. We will be using an electronic version via the University’s Inclusive Access Program, which is much cheaper than the printed hard copy. Click on the Bookshelf tab in Canvas to view the textbook.

Office hours
Monday and Wednesday 10:30-11:30am in JWB 106. Usually I am also available immediately after class on Tuesday and Friday. Other times by appointment.

Exams
The dates of the midterm exams are shown in the schedule below. If you need to miss an exam for a university-approved reason, please contact me at least a week in advance to make alternate arrangements.
Final exam
The final exam will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 8-10am in LCB 225.
Homework
Homework will be due Mondays at 11:59pm. Homework should be uploaded to the Gradescope tab in Canvas. There will be 14 homework assignments, and the lowest score will be dropped. You are expected to turn in assignments on time. If you need to turn in an assignment late due to extenuating circumstances, please contact me.
